What is BOSS?

Roatán, Honduras

B.O.S.S. is an acronym for Breathing Observation Submersible Scooter. It is a unique and exciting underwater motor scooter that lets you explore the vast ocean. Remember in school when you would turn a glass upside down in a sink of water and no water would enter the glass? It’s the same concept with the BOSS unit. As you descend, a seal is formed, the scuba tank supplies air to the bubble and you breathe normally.

The Boss Experience

After arriving at our dock you will board the Princessa del Mar to begin your BOSS experience. On our way to the BOSS dive site you will given a briefing by one of our staff on the boat, snorkeling and the BOSS scooter.

After the briefing the first group will be lined up at the stern of the boat while the remaining groups are free to enjoy the snorkeling.

The BOSS Divers will be in the water with the scooters floating at the surface. The Captain will assign each person a scooter, once you know your scooter number you get in the water and swim a few feet to your scooter. For guests who do not swim, you will scooter to one of our large metal ladders to enter.

After you are in the scooter, our divers will make sure you are comfortable, then begin to slowly lower the scooter until you are 8 feet below the surface of the water while reminding you to equalize your ears, just like on an airplane. Once everyone in your group is in the scooters we start the guided tour. You will be following the dive instructors all the while enjoying of the undersea world. Half way through the tour the divers will stop and group you with your friends and family to pose for our underwater photographer to take tons of photos that will be available for sale once back on board the boat.

Two tours for the price of one!! Yes, not only do you get to enjoy the wonders of the sea underwater in the BOSS Scooter, you can take advantage of our complimentary snorkel equipment and head out on your own snorkel adventure.

Our dive catamaran provides you with spacious sun decks for lounging in the sun as well as covered areas for shade. In addition, you will be provided with water, juice, and cookies to snack on- there is a restroom on board as well as a freshwater shower.
